modzi (mode·zhē) is a non-profit organization that mentors vulnerable youth in Zambia and facilitates their access to quality education. We advocate for those who have been neglected and who are struggling not for lack of ability, but for lack of opportunity. Through our unique mentorship programs modzi empowers at-risk youth to effect positive change in their communities. With an innovative model rooted in local partnerships, our holistic, community-based approach ensures that our students’ education is never interrupted. modzi is committed to spreading the ideal that we all have the power to create change – together, and as one.

I first visited Zambia in 2013, at the time still a student myself. The fieldwork I became involved in then soon evolved into my founding of modzi. To date, I coordinate operations of the international non-profit which directly supports orphaned, vulnerable, and inspiring youth in Zambia. My methodology has paired individualized mentorship and scholarship opportunities in order to facilitate the most at-risk, homeless youth with access to quality educational opportunities. I have managed diverse teams both in-country and remotely, as well as organized logistics for international volunteer events and university student opportunities abroad. I continue to oversee all fundraising initiatives for Zambian adolescents in need of secondary schooling and consult with local organizations on partnerships and implementation of community programs. I seek to further measure my programs’ impact and empower at-risk youth to effect positive change in their communities.
